It wouldn't matter. Bucky is very content with keeping his best friend within arm's length. Their world made it very hard for them to be best friends; to be family like they had been before the war happened all those decades ago and right up until the moment he left and ended up here. He doesn't want to sound dependant, but Steve was the reason he hasn't given in.
