[ town hall just seems like the best place to potentially gather information when you happen to find yourself in an unknown town. or it's at least a good place to start. unfortunately, it didn't really tell him much but 'not much' is more than he had out in the woods. he knows where he is now (lot of good that does him currently though. he still has no idea where it is in relation to anything else). he knows that the town's been all but abandoned for one reason or another, minus the handful of people who seem to be making use of the bulletin board.
