[ her use of the word 'only' stands out a little. it feels like it implies that they should have lost more but managed to only lose a couple. sure, the warnings are there on the bulletin board, but those don't mean much to him. something to keep in mind but there's no real weight to them without really knowing what the consequences actually are. but what she said, that feels like it's worth a little more.
tony is absolutely a jerk but at least he makes up for it by being good at what he does. well, he feels like he makes up for it. he does mean it though. with the right materials, he could cobble together a two-way radio easily. finding the right materials though is the real challenge. finding anything useful here, actually ]
'Uh-huh, right.' Find me some copper wire, at least two three quarter inch springs, any old radios you can get your hands on that are... You know what? As long as they're mostly not completely broken, I can use them. That's fine. I'll need some tools. Preferably pair of snipe-nose pliers, if you can get your hands on them. If you can find those things, there might be some hope for this town yet. [ and then he can send her searching for the rest. after all, he feels like this a pretty simple to obtain list of items. if the town can't even provide that, well, there's no point in prolonging her search for nothing.
